Mountain rescue operations - Samu

Mont-Blanc Hélicoptères also has a « public utility » function.
Our helicopters are equipped for mountain rescue operations. In case of emergency, we conduct the following type of operations:

- Research of people
- Rescues
- Medical evacuations
- Inter-hospital transfers
- Forest fires

During winter season, MBH ensures rescues on the Grand Massif, the Portes du Soleil and la the Chamonix valley. For mountain rescue operations, we mainly use the Ecureuil AS 350 B2 and the AS 355 N. Being very fast, they can transport up to 5 rescuers or evacuate a wounded person, a doctor and a nurse. They allow rescue missions at high altitudes (up to 4000m).

We also ensure the SAMU flights in Marseilles and Reims for the local hospitals. Two of our machines (EC 135) and our staff stand at the disposal of hospitals 24h/24h. We mainly use the EC 135 – machines that can transport (in its sanitary version) a wounded person, one or two pilots, or a doctor and a nurse.
