Since 1990 MBH has been the “safety” partner to your mountain breaks. Indeed, under French law no.85-30 of 9 January 1985, known as the “Mountain” law, Mont-Blanc Hélicoptères assures Medical Air Rescue at the request of the local authorities concerned. In concrete terms, our crews, including a doctor, intervene in complement to the slope safety services, in order to treat and evacuate victims of the most serious skiing accidents to the most appropriate medical facility. For the most delicate situations, we can evacuate the victim by hoisting or by winching the doctor down by the same means.
Here once more, all the experience and skill of our pilots is to be seen, especially given the particularly sensitive aerology inherent to mountain environments.
We also intervene regularly at the request of the slope safety services in order to proceed with implementing avalanche triggering and intervention plans (PIDA: Plans d’Intervention et de Déclenchement des Avalanches). Indeed, in a context of heavy snowfall, it is appropriate to clear all the passages considered as avalanche area. To do so, certain PIDAs plan the dropping of explosive loads by helicopter even in the most inaccessible areas.
Within the framework of on-piste rescue operations, Mont-Blanc Hélicoptères has conducted more 50,000 mountain-rescue missions to date.
Resorts Covered by an “MBH” Helicopter for mountain rescue are Portes du Soleil & Grand Massif ski area
